On August 24th, 2019, 6 teams with 15 people each will compete in 13 different events “on the road to the gold.” Featured competitions will include salsa making, basketball, relay races, badminton, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball and more. The fundraising portion of the competition will start on June 22nd and teams will accumulate points from all donations contributed to their team. The day will host several local homeless nonprofits.
Coaches & Ranking
Players will be assigned to teams by a coach who evaluates the members’ skills and places them in an event suited to their individual skill level. Every player must compete in a minimum of one event. The competitions will be judged on a point system. The team with the most points wins and takes home the gold. Points will also be awarded with all the financial donations contributed to their team. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be given to the top 3 teams.
The day will provide fun activities games for the whole family to enjoy. All ages are welcome and there will be a bounce house for the little ones to play in. Other games and activities open for the general public are salsa tasting, cornhole, spike ball, golf and much more.
Several local worship and Christian bands will be featured throughout the day with the official concert starting at 6:30 pm. A suggested donation of $30 will be accepted to defray our costs, but no one will be turned away from the gate for lack of funds. The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Pastor Bruce Squires, a pastor with Street Life Ministries from 2013 to 2018. Pastor Bruce dedicated his life to community needs and served the homeless.
